Pattern of Theory Examination in Critical Care Medicine conducted by the College of Critical Care Medicine (CCEF)
(effective for all examinations conducted after September 2014)
Common for Both Part -1 and Part-2 Examinations:
- . Theory examination will be held approximately 1 month before rest of the examination (Practical Examination) and will be held one day prior to and at same venue as the mock examination/crash course.
- . Each Theory examination will consist of 2 papers of 2 hours duration each.
- for Both Part -1 and Part-2 Examinations:
For Part-1 Examination
- . Each paper will consist of 4 sections as detailed below.
- Section A: 5 questions of 5 marks each. Each question should take 4-5 min to answer.
- Section B: 5 questions of 5 marks each. Each question should take 4-5 min to answer.
- Section C: 4 questions of 10 marks each. Each question should take 9-10 min to answer.
- Section D: 10 MCQ (Multiple Choice Questions) 1 mark each.

E. Approx. 30-40% of questions will cover applied physiological & Pharmacological aspects of these topics. Rest will be cover clinical aspects of Critical Care.
For Part-2 Examination
- . Each paper will consist of 4 sections as detailed below.
- Section A: 5 questions of 5 marks each. Each question should take 4-5 min to answer.
- Section B: 5 questions of 5 marks each. Each question should take 4-5 min to answer.
- Section C: 4 questions of 10 marks each. Each question should take 9-10 min to answer.
d. Section D: 1 Question on Procedure in ICU of 10 marks
